Cantor Colburn Patent Agent Dennis Jakiela, Ph.D., co-authored an article in the Journal of Chemical Education in 2020, "Orchestrating a Highly Interactive Virtual Student Research Symposium," with Jessica G. Freeze,* Jessica A. Martin, Patrick Fitzgerald, Clorice R. Reinhardt, and Ana S. Newton. Dennis is an active volunteer leader with the New Haven Local Section of the American Chemical Society.

Dennis Jakiela, Ph.D., Patent Agent at Cantor Colburn, has been appointed to the Capital Classics Board of Directors for a one-year term. He has been a volunteer leader with the nonprofit organization for several years, born out of his love for the plays of William Shakespeare.

The 2023 Northeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (NERM 2023) will be organized by NESACS and will be hosted at Northeastern University in Boston. An all-star panel from Cantor Colburn LLP will discuss patent protection for innovative products or processes, which excludes others from making and selling the same products or using the same processes, can be critical to the profitability of tech companies. During the Connecticut Invention Convention, more than 500 engineers, academics, scientists, entrepreneurs, and legal professionals will judge students' inventions and inspire young minds to pursue science and engineering studies and careers.

Several Cantor Colburn attorneys will be judges at the regional and statewide Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC), competitions, including Eric Baron, who is also a CIC board member. Michael Cantor will attend to represent the firm during the program, which will recognize Cantor Colburn's support. This year's convention will take place on May 4, 2019 at the UConn Storrs campus.

Dennis Jakiela, Ph.D. will speak at the Inventors Association of Connecticut on "U.S. Patent Law - A Brief History," on October 23, 2018 at Fairfield University. Dennis is a patent agent who writes and prosecutes U.S. and international patent applications and is an advisor to foreign associates all over the world on his clients’ foreign patent filings and prosecution.

Dennis Jakiela, Ph.D. will present, "Protecting your Invention: A Patent Primer," at the American Chemical Society, New Haven Chapter's General Meeting on September 12, 2018 in New Haven, Connecticut.
