Patent Agent

Tong Kim is a Patent Agent at Cantor Colburn LLP, where he handles patent matters in the areas of artificial intelligence, software, networking, and business methods, for clients in a variety of industries, including financial institutions, semiconductor companies, and university technology transfer offices, among others. His practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting disclosure meetings, preparing claims and specifications, and interviewing U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examiners. He is the author of multiple peer‑reviewed research articles in semiconductor‑related fields.

Tong has a strong technical background in electrical engineering and semiconductor devices, with extensive hands‑on experience in cleanroom fabrication processes, device physics, and materials characterization. During his doctoral research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, he contributed to federally funded research projects and accumulated extensive cleanroom training and semiconductor fabrication experience.

Following the completion of his Ph.D., Tong conducted postdoctoral research at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, where he expanded his expertise into power electronics, developing power‑supply control systems and noise‑reduction solutions for high‑field DC magnets.
