Client Alert: USPTO Trademark Registration Changes
The USPTO announced new rules affecting the trademark registration process, effective February 15, 2020. Cantor Colburn’s Client Alert discusses three of the most important rules that will impact our clients’ U.S. trademark interests: a requirement to provide a valid and monitored email address for all applicants even when represented by outside counsel; a tightening of the requirements for acceptable specimens of use; and a requirement that all applications and other USPTO formal documents and correspondence must be filed electronically.
Please note that each situation has its own unique circumstances and ramifications. This Client Alert is for informational purposes only and is not legal advice.
