Supplemental Examination
This proceeding gives patent holders an opportunity to correct patent errors by submitting information to the USPTO for consideration before resorting to litigation. If the information is sufficient to merit consideration of patentability, an examination will be conducted and a ruling will be made on the request.
Supplemental examination is not limited to patents and printed publications, and is a viable option for any patent issued before, on, or after September 16, 2013.
