Troy LaMontagne


Troy LaMontagne concentrates his practice on domestic and international intellectual property procurement, prosecution, transactions and licensing.  He counsels clients on and IP strategy development toward the development, protection and enforcement of IP assets.  He has more than 16 years' diverse firm and in-house counsel experience as well as 15 years'  professional engineering experience.  Troy was with United Technologies Corporation for more than 10 years, where he provided all aspects of IP legal support to a large variety of business segments covering the fire, security, HVAC, and elevator businesses.  This experience included developing practical, customer-focused, IP strategies to achieve businesses’ objectives; the management of an extensive international IP portfolios targeted at achieving business protection and cost objectives; drafting and negotiating a range of transactions including contracts, joint developments software licenses; conducting M&A due diligence and transactions; and, assessing and mitigating risks and conducting IP clearance activities while working closely with business and engineering groups.   He is competent in a broad range of technologies including electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software and systems arts with particular emphasis on electronics, controls and software in the fire, security, HVACR elevator industries, with added experience in aviation, automotive, and power systems.
