Joint Patent Practice Continuing Legal Education 2016

Cantor Colburn partner Andrew C. Ryan will present, "Revisions to PTAB Rules" during the 32nd annual Joint Patent Practice Continuing Legal Education (JPPCLE) on April 21, 2016 in New York, New York. The Keynote Speaker will be the Honorable Kathleen M. O'Malley, Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  Key government officials from the USPTO have been invited to join the program to discuss the latest developments in IP law. These include Andrew Hirshfeld, USPTO Deputy Commissioner for Patent Examination Policy; the Honorable Garret E. Brown, Jr., Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey; and Nathan Kelley, Acting Chief Administrative Judge of the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board. 

Andy is a trial lawyer with over a decade of experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in patent cases and other complex litigation matters. He also has significant experience in adversarial proceedings in the Patent and Trademark Office and chairs the firm’s Post Grant Review Practice Group. He regularly counsels clients on adversarial PTO proceedings co-pending with litigation. Andy has experience in a wide variety of industry areas, including electronics and semiconductors, robotics, automotive components, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.  He is experienced in the fields of patents, trademarks, trade dress, unfair competition, copyrights and trade secrets. He has represented clients in federal and state court in bench and jury trials, preliminary injunction proceedings, and in appellate matters. Andy's trial experience includes cases involving a variety of industries and technologies, including shape memory alloys, medical stent technology, restorative dental materials, and industrial safety products, including earplugs and protective eyewear.
