Why Cantor Colburn?

Vinay Thakur, Ph.D., Esq. on working at Cantor Colburn:

Cantor Colburn is the first and the only law firm that I have worked at since I started my career in patent law. I have a background in chemical sciences; I worked for almost 20 years as a research scientist in academia and in the biotech industry. I was really impressed by the way the firm utilized my expertise as a technical advisor first and then as a patent attorney.

During the interview process itself, I was really impressed by the welcoming and friendly nature of the partners and by the diverse work environment. I was also impressed to see that there were many employees who were with the firm for more than a decade – showing that they were happy working at the firm.  Cantor Colburn encourages work-life balance, and partners are supportive of your career goals.

I attended law school in the evenings during my first year at Cantor Colburn, and everyone was very supportive of my efforts to finish law school and subsequently prepare for the state bar and the patent bar exams.

Superb mentors and amazing support staff are two most critical aspects that made a difference for me being an attorney at Cantor Colburn. Partners at Cantor Colburn spend enough time and effort not only to tell new hires what to do, but also how and why. This is very helpful in the initial stages of anyone’s career and I believe is one of the biggest strengths of Cantor Colburn.

Finally, Cantor Colburn has a diverse client base: individual inventors, startups, big industry-leading companies, universities and government agencies. We work with clients in all industries and technologies and inventions, unlike at other law firms.

Overall, Cantor Colburn is a great place to work and develop the professional skills that will help further your professional and personal goals.
